Ed Burns

About

Mr. Burns has over 33 years of experience in the development, planning, implementation and management of information systems.  Highly experienced with executive management, project management and planning.  Strengths include the ability to lead technology organizations; to work with diverse user communities and project teams throughout the information technology project lifecycle.  

In 2010, Mr. Burns formed SLG Innovation, Inc. to focus on the healthcare and state and local government market place.  Prior to starting SLG, Ed Burns was the President of CIBER, Inc. State and Local government division for 10+ years.  Under the leadership of Ed Burns, CIBER’s State Government Solutions Division managed nationwide information technology projects for healthcare, human services, transportation, integrated justice and finance and administration organizations.  

Having worked with both private and public sector organizations across the nation, Burns has a unique perspective and commitment to delivering each project engagement. Two different and powerful forces are impacting Information Technology (IT) organizations: A demand for leaner operation that provides better services more efficiently and the rapid development of never-before-imagined information technologies. These forces pose a daunting challenge to IT business decision-makers.  Mr. Burns’ experience allows him to first understand the goals of business and then use innovative information technologies to achieve the service goals and increase business value.  

Mr. Burns is a frequent speaker and panel expert at industry seminars, roundtables, vendor and client events and conferences, including the Center for Digital Government, National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO), the American Public Human Services Association (APSHA) and the Annual Technology Summits hosted by Temple University.
